Totnes Healthy Futures Project Community Garden

2 May 2011

Whilst I was visiting Totnes recently I visited the Totnes Healthy Futures Project Community Garden located in Lamb Garden between Cistern Street and Leechwell Street.  The project and garden was created originally with an aim to help people with mental and phyiscal disabilities and difficulties.  The garden is maintained by volunteers and was funded by a variety of sources, including Greater Dartmoor Leaf (Local Enterprise Action Fund), Leatside Surgery, South Hams District Council and the Big Lottery Fund.  The project garden offers growing sessions providing volunteering opportunities, learning how to grow fruit and vegetables, physical exercise as well as heathly eating information.  During my visit a selection of vegetables, fruit and herbs were developing, including different varieties of mint (apple mint, moroccan mint, black peppermint and garden mint) (as pictured in the gallery below or by visiting my Flickr set).

I have recently launched my YouTube Channel, which features a selection of uploaded videos / clips featuring me to showcase my work activities.  The clips which are currently available on the channel include extracts from videos shown at past conferences to highlight the development, success and the sustainability of the successful workplace learning centre I previously managed and developed.  They also illustrate some benefits of workplace learning, e-learning courses and partnership working.

Eventually, more clips will be uploaded.  To view the YouTube Channel go to http://www.youtube.com/dpmassey

Introduction – David Massey’s / DPM.me.uk Blog

1 May 2010

Before I start formally publishing blog posts on a variety of topics, I thought it would be appropriate to provide a short description of what to expect from this blog and future posts.

Firstly, this is a personal blog and will focus on topics and articles related to my work or of personal interest.  It’s a place for my professional and personal ideas, opinions and short articles focusing on Post-16 education and learning, training, IT, technology as well as other areas.  There will be a variety of content – text, pictures and links.  For example, you can expect a variety of blog posts associated with such areas as:

  • IT / ICT, Computing and Technology
  • Learning, Skills, Teaching, Training and Education
  • E-Learning
  • Internet and Web
  • Social Media / Networking
  • As well as other various topics

I launched and started a blog as I already had a website, which has been online for many years.  The blog provides a natural addition to the site in the format of blog posts and enables me to publish a variety of articles.  I intend to publish blog posts as often as possible, however as always the frequency of posts depends on the amount of time available.

Well, I hope this post explains what to expect from my blog and future posts.  To find out more about David Massey or DPM.me.uk, please look at this blog or go to www.dpm.me.uk

Finally, I hope you enjoy my blog.

David
